An American Parable |
It began in a time when the peasant forces of kingdoms fled their homes for fear of persecution from their kings, and came to a new land; where they could once again live in peace and plant their orchards, vineyards, crops, and begin a new life in freedom. As it is in the ways of men, kings, and countries, soon they found themselves subjugated once again by another king, who egregiously seeking his own interests; reviled his subjects and taxed them beyond their means. The subjugated population rebelled, and called upon another king know as the King for His divine providence, protection and power to successfully throw off the yoke from this tyrant king. The new land became a new nation among the nations of the world, and started a new government with established freedoms; and the populace went back to their planting of new orchards, vineyards, and crops as they expanded from their original size, until they spread ocean to ocean. In the beginning, the King that had help the populace, could view the land, and all He could see was a land covered with vast orchards, vineyards and crops; the rains of His righteousness had indeed blest this new nation. |
In this time of freedom and growth as it is always, tares and weeds grow up almost unnoticed until this new nation found itself exposed to the sin lurking in it's depths; and in their designing of governing documents, because they could not agree on what to do with it, they actually wrote it into these documents; that no discussion of this sin will take place for twenty years. At the end of the twenty years plenty of discussion and compromises were made; but non to avert what was to happen - they found themselves in a civil battle; pitting brother against brother and father against son. The winning side claiming it's righteousness through the name of that same King who had helped securing their freedom in the beginning, giving the new nation freedom from that sin; but the weeds and tares were still growing up among the orchards and vineyards of the land. The populace didn't tend to the orchards, vineyards, and crops as they once did; they hired foreigners to help cultivate and harvest their crops, they compromised on the vary necessities they were governed by, and they became complacent in their very lives. Now as the King views the land, He can barely spot an orchard or vineyard through the tares and weeds. |
This America; is what we have become in the eyes of God! We have traded our freedoms for a yoke of bondage, giving into compromise and tolerance. Our orchards; now filled with tares and weeds; they produce a crop that has been tainted and impugned by the lack of refreshing, refueling, living water we receive when we meditate and read God's Word on a daily basis. 'Blessed are they whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the LORD. Blessed are they who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart. They do nothing wrong; they walk in his ways.' Psalms 119:1-3; 11, I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.; 15-17, I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word. Do good to your servant, and I will live; I will obey your word.; 24, Your statutes are my delight; they are my counselors.; 30-34, I have chosen the way of truth; I have set my heart on your laws. I hold fast to your statutes, O LORD; do not let me be put to shame. I run in the path of your commands, for you have set my heart free. Teach me, O LORD, to follow your decrees; then I will keep them to the end. Give me understanding, and I will keep your law and obey it with all my heart.; 44-47, I will always obey your law, for ever and ever. I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts. I will speak of your statutes before kings and will not be put to shame, for I delight in your commands because I love them.; 54, Your decrees are the theme of my song wherever I lodge.; 70, Their hearts are callous and unfeeling, but I delight in your law.; 92, If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction.; 97-104, Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long. Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, for they are ever with me. I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your statutes. I have more understanding than the elders, for I obey your precepts. I have kept my feet from every evil path so that I might obey your word. I have not departed from your laws, for you yourself have taught me. How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! I gain understanding from your precepts; therefore I hate every wrong path.; 109, Though I constantly take my life in my hands, I will not forget your law.; 111-112, Your statutes are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart. My heart is set on keeping your decrees to the very end.; 127-130, Because I love your commands more than gold, more than pure gold, and because I consider all your precepts right, I hate every wrong path. Your statutes are wonderful; therefore I obey them. The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.; 160, All your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal.; 166-168, I wait for your salvation, O LORD, and I follow your commands. I obey your statutes, for I love them greatly. I obey your precepts and your statutes, for all my ways are known to you.' |
As you can see, one must dedicate and commit their lives to Jesus to be truly saved, not as the widely accepted point of view of just believing in Him (John 3:16), for 'You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that--and shudder.' James 2:19, so that isn't the end of it - just believing; but having faith in what Jesus did on the cross and obeying Him in the process! There are a lot of confused Christians out there (for 87% of our country profess to be Christians)! The biggest reason is that they just don't read the Bible daily, pray regularly, or produce actions of love or righteousness. Jesus said we will know we are Christians by our love('And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.' 1 John 3:23); He also said you will know them by their fruit (actions produced); 'This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.' John 15:8! Look around America - do you see this - or do you see and smell rotting fruit? I must say, 'Praise the Lord, it isn't that way everywhere!'; but if we were to line up our fruits and compare them to our actions, is this what we would see: "Now, more than ever before, the people are responsible for the character of their Congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless, and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness, and corruption. If it be intelligent, brave, and pure, it is because the people demand these high qualities to represent them in the national legislature. If the next centennial does not find us a great nation it will be because those who represent the enterprise, the culture, and the morality of the nation do not aid in controlling the political forces." This is a quote from President James Garfield, while he served in the House of Representatives 1877; I would say it runs real close to show how this nation has fallen from grace - considering our representatives are made up of us (We the people). |
Truly, America, 'If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.' 2 Chr 7:14; we CAN learn from Israel's example - they abandoned their God, He kicked them out of His land - just as He told them He would do, IF they turned to other gods and forsook Him. Sounds pretty evident, doesn't it! I don't know about you, but I like living in America; for what it stands; enjoying it's freedoms; I pray daily for ALL of you so-called Christians, atheist, believers, and the general population - 'I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.'; that we in America will be and see revival of our hearts, turn from our wrong ways, come back to loving Him with ALL of our hearts, souls, mind, and strength, Amen. |
